Mixology Corner
An at-home bar with an expansion mechanism that allows for more counter space. Designed for a post-pandemic* world where people can host others in their homes, bringing back a sense of normalcy into their lives.
*This is not referring to the pandemic being over but rather provides an optimistic lens looking to the future.

When designing this bar, I was inspired by my family. Being a middle child, I always looked up to my older sister as someone who is hardworking and dedicated to her practice as an architect. As I see her growing and becoming independent, I wanted to design something that could provide a relaxing and fun element to her life.
The design blends into the environment as a decorative piece, but when expanded it comes to life as people are interacting with it. The Mixology corner is designed to live in a relatively contemporary space, for people ages 25-40 years old. This design promotes human interaction and entertainment to ease the burdens of everyday life.
Along with this project, I created a research paper where I developed a deeper understanding of the object I created. The research paper takes you through the purpose of this object, the history of at-home bars, and finally the environmental impact of this design as well as how it could be improved in future iterations.
